William A. Spina, MD

Dr. William A. Spina is a board-certified anesthesiologist with more than 30 years of experience providing anesthesia care for patients undergoing cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Throughout his distinguished career, he has worked alongside some of the Bay Area’s most respected plastic surgeons, earning a reputation for clinical excellence, precision, and an unwavering commitment to patient safety.
A San Francisco resident for more than two decades, Dr. Spina has been an integral part of Bay Area Plastic Surgery, where he works closely with Dr. Leonard Gray to ensure every patient receives personalized, attentive care throughout their surgical experience. His calm, reassuring presence and meticulous approach help patients feel comfortable and confident from the moment they enter the operating room.
Dr. Spina earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Arizona College of Medicine after completing his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry. He went on to complete residency training in both General Surgery and Anesthesiology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), one of the nation’s premier academic medical centers. He has served in leadership roles at several accredited Bay Area surgery centers, including Director of Anesthesiology, and continues to provide anesthesia services at multiple premier outpatient surgical facilities throughout San Francisco.
Board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, Dr. Spina is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia, and the American Medical Association. His extensive experience in outpatient surgery allows him to deliver anesthesia care that prioritizes safety, comfort, and a smooth recovery for every patient.
