What Types of Breast Surgery Does Dr. Gray Offer?
Below, we’ve listed the breast surgery options you can choose from at Bay Area Plastic Surgery. Click on the sections below to visit each surgery’s information page, in which you can gain in-depth knowledge on each procedure.
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation uses silicone or saline implants to create fuller, more balanced breasts. Patients can choose from Mentor, Sientra, and Motiva implants in a range of shapes, profiles, and sizes, and Dr. Gray customizes implant placement and incision location for a natural-looking result. Most patients return to desk work in about 1 to 2 weeks.
Motiva Breast Impants
Motiva breast implants are a 6th-generation silicone option that Dr. Gray offers alongside Mentor and Sientra. Designed with Ergonomix2® adaptive shaping and a SmoothSilk® surface, Motiva implants shift naturally as you move for results that look and feel like natural breast tissue. Patients can try on and compare all three brands during a sizing consultation with Dr. Gray. Learn more about Motiva breast implants here.
Breast Lift
Dr. Gray offers several breast lift methods, including the vertical, inferior pedicle (anchor), and Benelli lifts, each suited to a different degree of sagging. A breast lift with Dr. Gray raises sagging or drooping breasts to a more youthful position with reduced risk of the breasts “bottoming out” later on, and can also reposition or resize the areolas with minimal scarring.
Breast Augmentation With Lift
Breast augmentation with a lift is ideal for women who have lost volume and also developed sagging, often after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss. Dr. Gray combines implants with his preferred vertical lift technique to restore fullness, raise the breasts to a more youthful position, and provide long-lasting internal support with less scarring. Breast Revision
Even after a satisfying breast augmentation, revision surgery may be needed later to exchange, reposition, or remove implants. Whether your reasons are aesthetic, such as a size change, or medical, such as capsular contracture or rupture, Dr. Gray is prepared to help you reach your desired look in the safest manner possible. His use of Strattice™ in capsular contracture revision has lowered recurrence in his practice to less than 1%.
Cosmetic Breast Surgery FAQs
Which breast surgery is right for me?
The right procedure depends on your main concern. Breast augmentation adds volume, a breast lift corrects sagging, breast augmentation with lift addresses both, and breast revision updates or corrects previous implants. For mild sagging without surgery, a non-surgical breast lift with BodyTite may be an option. Dr. Gray will recommend the best approach during your consultation.
Do I need a breast lift or breast augmentation?
A breast lift raises and reshapes breasts that have started to sag, while breast augmentation adds volume. If your breasts have lost fullness and also sit lower than you’d like, a combined breast augmentation with lift may give the most balanced result.
Where is breast surgery performed?
Dr. Gray performs breast surgery as an outpatient procedure in Bay Area Plastic Surgery’s AAAASF-accredited surgical suite at 450 Sutter Street in San Francisco, so most patients return home the same day.
Can breast surgery be combined with other procedures?
Yes. Many patients combine breast surgery with a tummy tuck or liposuction as part of a mommy makeover, which allows them to recover from multiple procedures at once.
What breast implant options does Dr. Gray offer?
Dr. Gray offers silicone and saline implants, including silicone implants from Mentor, Sientra, and Motiva. He offers smooth implants only, since textured implants have been linked to anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL).
What is recovery like after breast surgery?
Recovery depends on the procedure. Most breast augmentation patients return to desk work in 1 to 2 weeks, and many breast lift patients return to work after about a week. Strenuous exercise is typically avoided for 6 to 8 weeks after surgery, while most BodyTite patients return to work the next day.
Can I breastfeed after breast surgery?
Most women can breastfeed after breast augmentation or a breast lift. Some incision types and lift techniques carry a small chance of affecting sensation or milk supply, so share your family plans with Dr. Gray during your consultation.
How much does breast surgery cost in San Francisco?
Cost depends on the procedure, implant choice, and the complexity of your surgery. Dr. Gray and his team will provide a detailed estimate after your consultation, and financing options are available.
Do you offer virtual consultations for breast surgery?
Yes. Virtual consultations are available for select patients and early planning, which can be especially helpful for patients traveling from outside the Bay Area.
